Espino Blanco Biological Reserve – Hiking …………..$40p/p

The reserve has several pathways for walking and it takes about three and a half hours, this allows time for explanations given by area guides and a twenty minutes lunch break.  The paths are built on unleveled land but they are perfectly accessible to visitors from 5 years on up.

 

 

Life´s Path

It is the longest and most picturesque trail.  This journey is from the lower areas into the middle ascents, and all along the trail the famous and enormous White Thorn tees can be seen along with other important plants of the region. 

Love´s Path

This trail is the easier to walk, because of its topography and receives its name from a story of love that happened in Verbena 75 years ago. The tree where this all took place, is pointed out on the journey.

The trail is located in a middle of a very attractive mixture of primary and secondary forest that allows visitors to differentiate them clearly and to see the characteristics of one and the other.

View Path

Named “El Mirador”, because arriving this place, you can enjoy a beatiful landscape of Turrialba city. This viewing point is an obligatory stop to rest for a few minutes.

The tour begins walking for twenty minutes through a primary forest trail until the canyon at Espino Blanco Biological Reserve, in North Verbena. Along the tour you will glide on five rapells over impressive waterfalls. The descend is totally natural, following the canyon bed, walking on rocks, making this tour an exciting adventure.

Learn about regional birds, singing and their nest, beauty and their enviromental importance. This tour is recommended to any person, area biodiversity allows  us to have several watching sites. A two hours tour, it starts at six in the morning (the best time to bird watching), after that you will enjoy a typical breakfast. The Pacuare River is ranked as one of the best ten rivers in the world to practice rafting.

There are eighteen miles of class III and class IV rapids on the river. You will enjoy the thrill of the rapids, as well as the natural beauty that surrounds the river, such as waterfalls and tropical flora and fauna.

This tour is 3 or 4 hours long, we will take a break at the camp to enjoy a delicious lunch. From Nairi Aguari Reserve, Native will visit us to sell their souvenirs to the tourist.

After venturing through some of the thrilling rapids, we stop to explore some of the beautiful waterfalls located in the hidden canyons.

Halfway through the first day you will reach camp, where we provide a delicious lunch and a “happy hour” where you and others can share some of the day’s adventures while sipping refreshing drinks. 

In the evening, the guides prepare and serve you a scrumptious dinner.

You will comfortably sleep in our little bungalows with tents on platforms. Each tent is equipped with two beds and a one of a kind view of the Pacuare River.

This river has class 2 and 3 rapids. The six kilometer ( 3 miles) section provides rafters with a safe, scenic and adventurous day on the river.

The trip takes approximately 3 hours (midday-tour) and is a suitable tour to enjoy with all of the family.  Rafters will enjoy the surrounding landscapes of the river including coffee and sugar cane plantations, as well as the pristine refreshing river. No previous experience is required.

The Pejibaye River is located thirty minutes from Turrialba. This river has class 2 and 3 rapids. These rapids are perfect for those navigating and exploring the river in the small inflatable kayaks that we provide.

This tour will take bikers through the tropical plantations of CATIE. The topography of the trails is not difficult. All level bike riders and children older than eight years old can enjoy this trip.

During the bike ride, a guide will explain the great diversity of the forest and fruit plantations and many other exotic species from tropical countries.

Decending from the majestic Irazu Volcano ( 3.450 m.a.s.l). Going down by the steaming Turrialba Volcano ( 3.340 m.a.s.l). This is a 55 km route where 85% is downhill through steep areas, difficult to cover you will be able to practice all your mountain bike abilities an at the same time be astonished by the landscape‘s beauty. Total adventure is guaranteed as well as professional assistance.

For this trip, riders are driven to the small town of Atirro. We provide friendly, trained horses that come from high-level stables. A guide will give a description of what riders will do and see during the tour and give a safety talk on the rules and procedures.

During the two hour horseback riding trip, riders will pass sugar cane and coffee plantations and a secondary forest. Riders will stop to take a break and enjoy a scenic lookout, where the whole Turrialba Valley and surrounding mountains can be seen. Snacks and refreshments are provided for riders at the end of the trip.

The Turrialba volcano is located in the Central Mountain Range of Costa Rica. As we ascend up the volcano, a knowledgeable guide of this area will point out the different climates, forests, flora and fauna that we are passing. Day Tour : is offered daily at 9 AM, in the plantation in Atirro, last approximately 2 hours. This a real agro – tour! After learning about coffee history you will learn how coffee is farmed and harvested prior to the milling and roasting process at our Golden Bean  Coffee Mill.

Upon completion of this tour, participants will know all the secrets behind a great Costa Rican coffee cup.

Night Tour: begins with pick- up at participants hotels at 5 P.M. Upon arrival to our plantation you will initiate the tour in a trail that has been set up with adequate lighting to provide a safe passage for all our visitors. After a brief visit to the coffee plantation guests will then proceed to learn about the processing of coffee ata our coffee mill.

The tour concludes with an interactive coffee cupping session after which visitors will taste various types of coffees, chocolates and liqueurs at our Golden Bean Factory.

Located in Pavones, just 10 km. from Turrialba on the road to Siquirres. In this tour you will be able to watch snakes and birds. Guided by a professional, he‘ll talk to you about poisonous and non poisonous snakes. You just can not watch snakes you will have the change to take pictures with them.
